Glamorgan County Women’s Bowling Association
CHANGES TO SAVEGAR CUP COMPETITION IN 2026
The format for play in the Savegar Cup Competition for 2026 has changed from 6 rinks to Pairs, Triples and Rinks (18 Players plus 3 Reserves). This is to enable players who wish to develop their game to progress to international standard, World Bowls and Commonwealth Games to focus on development in these disciplines.
I am pleased to tell you that Mrs Emma Woodcock will be Glamorgan’s Team Manager for the Savegar Cup and Super 9s for 2026. Her significant bowling experience representing her County and Wales will help hopefully inspire our players and help mentor their development. All Welsh Counties will compete as before and there will be two Sections of four counties and the two section winners will play each other in the National Finals alongside the Men’s County Championship which is also being played in the new format. Glamorgan will play West Wales Away at Whitland, Carmarthenshire, at home at Llantwit Major and West Glamorgan Away at Brynhyfrydd, Neath.
Players will make their own travel arrangements to matches and there will be no after-match meals, just tea/coffee and biscuits and costs will be just £7 per player, £3.50 for Under 25s (on 1 Apr) and £1 for Under 18s. The hosting Club will run a small raffle to help with costs.
