Formation of Glamorgan County Women’s Bowling Association

Glamorgan County Women’s Bowling Association was founded at the Queen’s Hotel, Cardiff on 6th January 1949 by 5 Clubs – Mackintosh, Bridgend, Windsor (Penarth), Howard Gardens (Cardiff), and Troedyrhiw all of whom had decided to leave the County of South Wales & Monmouthshire. Penclawdd had expressed support but did not attend. Mrs G Scott-Chard was elected as the first President and said on accepting the honour ‘that she hoped that Glamorgan County Women’s Bowling Association would prove to be the nursery school for finding International players for the future.’ Mrs F.A. Crane was elected as Secretary and Mrs D B Jones from Windsor was Patron of the Association.
