Miss Gertrude Savegar
Welcome to the New Glamorgan County Women's BA Website!
Miss Gertrude Savegar
This is an Inter-County Cup Competition introduced by the Welsh Women's Bowling Association in memory of Miss Gertrude Savegar from Abergavenny who was their Treasurer from 1953-1963 and Hon. Secretary from 1963-1980.
Originally introduced as a competition between all Welsh County Teams playing each other, it was rationalised to two smaller sections in 2015. Glamorgan County are proud to have won this many times and are the current holders.
(Dorothy Bumford Cup)
The Dorothy Bumford Cup was given by Anne Smith, GCWBA President 2017, in memory of Mrs Dorothy Bumford who was President in 2009 and Secretary from 1992 to 2009.
The County teams competing for the GCT are South Wales & Mon, Pen Y Glyn, Mid Wales and Glamorgan.
It was introduced by Glamorgan County to help maintain competitive bowling at County level to compensate for the decrease in Savegar Cup games following the Welsh Women's BA decision to rationalise the number of games in the Savegar Cup.
